Tata Melnichenko

Tata Melnichenko is a photographer from Ukraine. Her distinctive feature is black and white photography showing the natural beauty of the face and body of a person.
All shots are taken in the signature style of the photographer, who seeks to show the human body in a natural way, avoiding glamor and perfection.
She does not try to hide the "imperfections" of woman’s appearance - wrinkles, freckles and spots are visible on her faces, and her hair is tousled by the wind, and not laid hair to hair. According to Tata, all these things are imprints of a model’s true character and life experience, so this cannot be hidden, but, on the contrary, must be emphasized in every possible way.
These principles also explain the fact that she makes black and white shots: they are the best fit for her philosophy. The photographer believes that monochrome photos are the best way to remove everything unnecessary from the picture and leave only the true essence there. For this reason, Tata genuinely loves old classic photography and also respects retro cinema and art.
Tata Melnichenko views photography as an art and believes that it is better to take a few worthwhile shots a year than to produce gigabytes of boring photographic images every week. Therefore, her photographic works are born in this way: most often she first photographs "in her head", and presses the release button at the moment when a ready-made frame is formed in her thoughts. Although she does not exclude the fact that an interesting shot can turn out completely by accident, without requiring either physical or mental preparation. And this also happened in the creative biography of Tata.
Her love for photography began in her youth. The first camera was in her hands at the age of 18, and it was true love. Since that time, this relationship has undergone significant changes and upheavals, but love has only grown stronger over the years, like a good wine.
Today Tata continues to create and publish her photographic works, which regularly decorate the interiors of various studios, walls of premises and buildings. She is inspired by various things - it can be nature, the moon, a ray of the sun, an interesting person, an exciting book, a painting by a great artist, black and white cinema, vintage things, libraries with dusty books, a drop of rain falling on glass, or love.
